Weekly Update 11/6

Good afternoon families!

November is my favorite month. It is a time to focus on gratitude. I cannot express enough gratitude towards my amazing staff at Tilton nor to our fabulous families. This month I will highlight our ESPs. Our ESPs go above and beyond each and every day to help our students whether it be in small group settings, greeting them while they are on duty, or when they take on the role of a teacher during an absence. This week I would like to spotlight:

Natalia Hernandez is our Multilingual Learner ESP. She pushes in to classrooms to provide supports to students whose first language is not English. You may also see her helping out in the office or helping with translations and parent meetings. Ms. Hernandez also serves as a parent representative on our Site Council

Anny Marion is an ESP in Grade 2. Working to pull small groups, she assists students with phonics or math. She never hesitates to volunteer to help during parent conferences to add additional translation support for our families. She is currently the longest serving ESP at TIlton!

Donna Kelleher is an ESP in Grade 3. In addition to assisting students in the grade 3 classroom, she also works our Discovery Club program helping to provide enriching activities for our students. She volunteers time during our family night or Tiger Mania and is an avid supporter of our Hillie Sports teams.

Tarnia Pare is an ESP in Grade 1. She works to support two classrooms of grade 1 students, pulling small groups, covering for meetings, or stepping in as needed as the teacher. She takes an active role in the school community and is always willing to go above and beyond.

Attendance
If your child is absent please call the school as soon as possible to report the absence.  This should be done in addition to notifying the teacher via REMIND app.  If your child has been out ill and seen by a health care provider, please send a note to the school- these absences will be excused.  Please make sure that the school has all updated phone numbers.

Picture Day Retakes
We anticipate receiving our pictures soon! Retake day will be on Tuesday, November 21st.

Notes from the Health Office
Just a friendly reminder….If your child is prone to accidents at school,  please send in a dry set of clothes to keep at school. Also, if your child has been sent home in dry clothes that came from the Health Office, please wash and return pants/shirts only. We have a limited supply of clothes.
Thank you!

Tilton Gear
We will be looking to open the store again at the end of the month. If you have some gently loved Tilton shirts that your child has outgrown that you would like to donate back to the school to have a spot for families to come look through, please send them in! We will be setting up a swap space for students who have no Tilton gear to find some!

Santa Parade
Tilton will once again march in the Haverhill Santa Parade which will be held on Sunday, November 19th. If you are interested in walking with us, please return the form to your child’s teacher that went home last week. We will meet at 11:45 at the Wood School.  This year’s theme is Candyland Christmas. We are still looking for  any donations of small candies such as lollipops, tootsie rolls, smarties, taffy (nothing that can melt) as we plan ahead for the Santa Parade. We like to ensure we have enough candy to carry us through the entire route as many of our families are at the end of the route.  We also welcome any wagons that we can borrow to help us pull the candy!

Device insurance info
All students in HPS receive a chromebook and a charger. We strongly recommend all families sign up for device insurance to cover any loss or damage. You can sign up here. The deadline has been extended to December 1st.

Should you not opt in for insurance, you will be accountable for any damage or loss. Students should bring their chromebook to school each day, fully charged. We are seeing a number of students not bringing them in. We have very few devices to loan students.
