Good afternoon families! Here were in December already! So many fun things to look forward to this month.
Calendar Correction
Our Letter Days on the calendar are 1 day off. Friday December 1st was an A day. I will be posting a picture of the calendar with the corrected days shortly. There are no letter days on a half day.
Chromebooks
Please make sure your child has his/her chromebook every day and that it is charged. We do not have many loaner devices or extra chargers to have students charge during the day. If your child’s computer is not charging or working properly or your device is lost, have them see Mrs. Ackerman who can have it serviced or put a ticket in to have it replaced. At this time, the deadline has passed to sign up for device insurance.
Winter Raffle
Once again we will be having our Winter Raffle. Students may purchase raffle tickets ($0.25 per ticket) to be entered into our raffle. On December 21st, we will pull winners to come choose from a variety of prizes (generously donated by the Early family). All funds raised are then used to purchase gift cards and holiday things for families in need. We will have tickets on sale during our Holiday Concert on 12/12 as well.
Colder weather
We do try to go out as often as we can in the winter months. Some days the wind is whipping as we are on a hill. We always monitor the “feels like” temperature to ensure it is not too cold and use this chart. Students should come dressed for the weather. Encourage your child to put their hats/mittens/gloves in their coats as we then ask students to place coats in their backpacks until recess/dismissal to prevent losing these extra items. As always, we recommend putting labels or marking any tags with your child’s name in the event it becomes lost.
School Messenger Text Messaging
The district is adding text messaging (SMS) capability to SchoolMessenger Communicate, the system we now use for phone calls and emails.
Over the following weeks, families can opt-in to receive text messages from SchoolMessenger texting Y to number 67587.
If they opt-in before January 2, 2024, they will be preapproved to receive text messages from Haverhill Public Schools.
If they do not opt-in before January 2, 2024, they will receive a mass communication from SchoolMessenger to their cell phone number on file in SchoolBrains asking for their permission.

Changes in email/phone numbers
If you change your phone numbers or email addresses please be sure to update the information with the main office. We send weekly communication through email and we often send reminders through the Remind App. We encourage all families to ensure you download the app and opt in for text/email notifications.
Jingle Bell Hop
Once again you will find us caroling through the neighborhood! Join us on December 6th at 6:00 on the playground side of the building. We will have lyrics to some popular songs as well as the backing of a speaker so we all sound like famous singers. We will then enjoy some hot chocolate and cookies!
Holiday Concert
Our annual Holiday Concert will be held at the Haverhill High School auditorium this year from 6:00-7:00. Students should arrive by 5:30. We will have a bus to bring families in a need of a ride to and from the concert. It will leave Tilton at 5:15 and leave the high school shortly after the end of the concert. We will send out a slip on Monday to sign up for the bus. Please return by Monday December 11th so we know how many will need to take the bus.
Checking in at the office
Please make sure if you need to drop something off or see the school nurse that you first check in at the main office. You will sign in and be given a visitor badge to wear while you are in the building. Families should not be going up or down stairs or walking through the hallways, unless you are here for an event in a different location. On those occasions, you will sign in and out on a specific sign in sheet and be directed to that location.
