Welcome Back, Tilton Families,

I hope that everyone had a great summer, had a chance to recharge, and spent some quality time with friends and family. I am excited to welcome everyone back for the 26-27 school year, and looking forward to seeing everyone on the first day of school (grades 1-4) on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

At the Tilton Elementary School, we ROAR wherever we go! As students enter the school year, the attributes listed to the left will be explicitly taught in the first weeks, and students will receive reminders throughout the year in the classroom and at monthly PBIS celebrations. As adults, it is critical that we model these expectations to our children while on school grounds and at events. We are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated school community, and we believe that strong collaboration between home and school is the key to our students' success. We look forward to partnering with you as a team to make this school year engaging, supportive, and rewarding for every child. We are always looking for families to get involved in our school. Joining our Site Council and/or our PTO is a great way to get involved and stay updated on everything Tilton.

The Tilton Elementary School will be holding an Open House on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM. This is an opportunity to meet our amazing staff and tour the building. The afternoon schedule is as follows.

Incoming kindergarten students participate in a screening prior to the start of school. This is an opportunity for the staff to get to know your child. Children will work with a staff member one-on-one while a family member completes important paperwork. The staff member conducting the screening may not be your child’s kindergarten teacher. The appointment will be about 30 minutes long. Screenings will be held on Wednesday, September 2, Thursday, September 3, and Friday, September 4 at the Tilton Elementary School. For this event only, please enter through the Hancok Street Side of the building (where buses arrive), and you will be greeted by a teacher. From there, you will be given paperwork to complete while your child is being screened.

Class assignments will be given at the Meet the Teacher event, which will be held on Tuesday, September 8, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. For this event, you may enter through the main entrance on Grove Street. This will be an opportunity for you to meet your child’s teacher, see their classroom, and receive important information. The first day of kindergarten is Wednesday, September 9.

As part of the District’s 1:1 initiative, every Haverhill Public Schools student receives a HPS-issued Chromebook. HPS offers the opportunity to protect school-issued devices for the school year by paying a Device Waiver Fee. As outlined in the HPS Student Technology Device Policy, this $20 fee will help cover the costs of potential damage, repair, or loss of the assigned device during the school year. Please note: issues of theft should still be reported to the police.
