THE TIGER TRIBUNE

September 7, 2026

Good afternoon, Tiger Families,

Thank you so much for an incredible first week of school! It was wonderful to see our halls filled with smiling faces, enthusiasm, and energy once again. We are so grateful to our students, dedicated staff, and wonderful families for working together to make this opening week such a success.

A special shoutout to our amazing PTO for providing a delicious breakfast for our staff on their first day back—your support means the world to us and sets a fantastic tone for the year ahead!

As we get into our regular routine, please take a moment to review our drop-off and pick-up procedures outlined below. A gentle reminder that dismissal is at 3:15 PM, so please be on time for pick-up to ensure a safe and smooth process for all students.

Additionally, thank you all for your patience and flexibility with busing, arrival, and dismissal as the Transportation Department irons out the usual start-of-year logistics.

Thank you for your continued partnership. We are looking forward to a great week ahead!

ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL PROCEDURES (8:45 AM – 9:00 AM)

  • Timeline: Drop-off begins at 8:45 AM for students eating school breakfast. Students are considered tardy after 9:00 AM. If late, parents must park in the lot and sign their student in at the main office.
  • No Early Playground Access: Students are not allowed on the playground before school due to insufficient supervision.
  • Drop-Off Zone: Cars may drop off students only in the designated cone-marked area on the sidewalk in front of the school on Grove Street. No parking is allowed on Grove Street or in the school lot.
  • Traffic Flow: Pull to the side of Grove Street and wait patiently for staff to direct you forward. Have your student ready to exit immediately upon reaching the sidewalk.
  • Stay in Your Vehicle: Parents must remain in their vehicles. Staff will be stationed outside to assist students and guide them safely into the building.
  • Pedestrian Safety: Never drop students off on the opposite side of the street. If crossing Grove Street, you must use the designated crosswalk with the crossing guard.
Dismissal Procedures (3:15 PM – 3:25 PM)
  • Timeline: Dismissal begins at 3:15 PM. Do not begin lining up before 3:10 PM. To prevent gridlock, consider staggering your arrival between 3:15 PM and 3:25 PM; the line moves quickly.
  • Neighbor Courtesy: Do not block driveways or blast loud music. Comply immediately if a neighbor asks you to move. HPD will be involved if necessary.
  • Car Pick-Up Line: Line up along Grove Street and pull forward as directed by staff. Do not reverse while in line. Remain in your vehicle unless assisting with a child's car seat.
  • Loading: Staff will assist students in boarding vehicles from the sidewalk. Reminder: The back seat is safest for children under 12. Students will not be allowed to cross the street to parked cars or the parking lot.
  • Bus Alternative: Parents are strongly encouraged to consider using school bus transportation to reduce traffic.

WALKERS & SPECIFIC EXIT DOORS

Hancock Street is strictly reserved for school buses. If you are driving to pick up a student, do not park on Hancock Street or across the street on Grove Street; please use the standard car pick-up line instead.
For families walking to meet students, dismissals occur at the following designated doors. Families with students in multiple grades should pick up younger students first.

Our Priority: Student safety is our number one priority. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation!

CHROMEBOOK WAIVER FEE GRADES 1-4

As part of the District’s 1:1 initiative, every Haverhill Public Schools student receives a HPS-issued Chromebook. HPS offers the opportunity to protect school-issued devices for the school year by paying a Device Waiver Fee. As outlined in the HPS Student Technology Device Policy, this $20 fee will help cover the costs of potential damage, repair, or loss of the assigned device during the school year. Please note: issues of theft should still be reported to the police.

The Device Waiver Fee is available for purchase throughout the school year. Please click HERE to enroll in the program.

NOTE: Coverage under the Device Waiver Fee begins on the date of payment and does not apply to any damage or issues that occurred before the waiver was purchased.
