A MESSAGE FROM MR. CONANT

Dear Tilton Families,

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Tiger Tribune!

First, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for parent-teacher conferences last Thursday. We truly appreciate your partnership, time, and dedication to supporting your child’s learning journey.

As part of our ongoing commitment to school safety, we will be conducting a scheduled ALICE safety drill this week. These drills help our staff and students practice age-appropriate safety protocols in a calm, supportive environment.

Please remember that our regular dismissal time is 3:15 PM. We ask that you make the necessary arrangements to ensure you or a designated adult is present at Tilton for pickup or waiting at your child’s bus stop on time each afternoon. Your cooperation helps ensure a safe and smooth dismissal for all our Tigers.

Thank you for your continued support!

R.O.A.R.

Mr. Conant

UPCOMING A.L.I.C.E. DRILL

Next week, our school will conduct our first ALICE safety drill of the school year. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. Like our routine fire drills, these safety exercises help ensure our students and staff know how to respond calmly and effectively in an emergency. All discussions and instructions will be presented by teachers in a gentle, age-appropriate manner, with a focus on listening to trusted adults and following emergency directions.

LATE PICK-UP POLICY

At Tilton Elementary School, the safety and well-being of our students are our highest priorities. This includes ensuring that every child is supervised by a parent or authorized guardian after the school day concludes.

We understand that emergencies and unexpected traffic delays can occur. However, consistent punctuality during dismissal is essential to ensure that school staff can fulfill their professional duties and that students feel secure and cared for.

Our Policy on Late Pickups
To maintain a safe environment, we are implementing the following protocols regarding late arrivals:
  • Standard Dismissal: All students must be picked up by 3:15 pm daily.
  • Documentation: Every instance of a late pickup will be formally documented by the school administration.
  • Formal Notification: Upon the first and second late arrivals, parents will receive a written reminder of the school policy.

Safety and Regulatory Compliance
Please be advised that the school is bound by state safety regulations and mandatory reporting guidelines. If a student is picked up late on three separate occasions, we are required to file a report with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) for suspected neglect.

This step is not taken lightly, but it is a necessary measure to ensure that all children in our care receive the consistent supervision required by law.

Next Steps
If you anticipate having difficulty meeting the dismissal time due to work schedules or other recurring conflicts, we strongly encourage you to explore local after-school programs or carpooling options.

We value your partnership in keeping our school community safe and organized. If you have any questions regarding this policy, please contact the main office.
