Good afternoon Tigers,
Just a few more weeks to go before we welcome our students for the 2022-2023 school year. This update will be quick to just include information about bus routes and reminders of open house/first day. Next week, my update will include drop off and pick up procedures. This email, as well as bus routes, and the drop off and pick up procedures will be available on our website. Please be sure to bookmark our website and check it often!
Bus Routes
The bus routes for AM and PM are now available. Please see the links below. We will also have someone available to help you with your bus info during open house should you not know what bus #, stop, or times. It will be very important to communicate to your child’s teacher at open house or via a note the first day if you are unable to attend Open House, how your child will be going home, not just the first day, but every day moving forward. Any changes to how your child will go home must be done through the main office. You may also communicate to the teacher, however, it is important that the office be made aware to ensure students go home the correct way each day. Please note that the first few weeks, buses may run later due to ensuring all students get on the bus.
If your child will be attending a before and/or after school program such as Boys and Girls Club, YWCA, Youth Empowerhouse, Little Sprouts, please make sure this is communicated to teachers as well. If when you have any questions about your bus stop, number, etc, you may reach out to the Transportation Department. Check out their website here: https://www.haverhill-ps.org/transportation/
Teacher Assignments
If you log into the parent portal this week you should be able to see your child’s teacher listed. Please see the district website for instructions to log in. There are also steps to follow should you not have credentials to log in. For returning students, you can log in with their credentials as well.
Open House
A Reminder that Open House is Monday, August 29th from 4:00-5:30. It will be held outside. We will have staff available to take groups on tours of the building, a station to get a parent pick up placard (a sign so we can easily identify the name and grade level of your child to ensure a smooth dismissal). There will be some beginning of year paperwork you can fill out while there and you can also communicate your child’s transportation plan to their teacher. If you child will be car pick up or walker, please let the teacher know who has permission to pick up.
We have received a generous donation of backpacks/supplies for the Knights of Columbus and will have those available should anyone be in need. Just let a staff member know!
First Day
The first day for students in Grades 1-3 will be Tuesday, August 30th.
Kindergarten students official first day is Wednesday, September 7th. Kindergarten families should be receiving phone calls to schedule their kindergarten screening the week of August 30th. During the screening your child will receive a free L.L. Bean backpack courtesy of Children’s Health!
