Weekly Update 12/19

Good afternoon families,

The holidays are just around the corner and I am sure everyone is looking forward to a much deserved break. This Friday, December 23rd, is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 11:35.

Attendance
Please be sure to call in to the main office if your child will be out sick. We do send an alert call to families that we do not hear from. We have had a number of multi-day absences with no phone calls. Our staff do also try to reach out so we can account for student absences. Please be sure to send in any doctors notes as well so we can mark that in our systems as well. This has been a tough month for illness and hoping the break allows everyone to rest and get well.

Spirit Week
This week we are getting in the festive spirit! See the themes below

Monday- Festive Hat Day

Tuesday- Ugly Sweater/ T-Shirt Day

Wednesday- Dress like a snowman/white

Thursday- Pajama Day

Friday- Festive Friday

Spirit wear update
Spirit wear was delayed but will be available once we return from the holidays. We apologize for the delay as I know many students are excited and anxious for their items.

Tutoring
We will begin our first cycle of tutoring for Grade 3 students with an ELA focus beginning on January 17th-March 2nd. Students are selected based on their benchmark scores  to provide students with more in depth instruction to work on strategies and skills to help them improve. Letters will be going home this coming week and bussing is available if needed. Please be sure to fill out and return to school as soon as possible so that bus routes can be created for those students taking the bus.

Site Council
We are looking for 2-3 more parents total between the two schools to join our Site Council. A Site Council is a school building based committee focused on improving the school and plays a role in shaping the policies and programs of the school. We currently have no representative from our Lower School actively on our Site Council and we have another parent whose child will be moving on from our Upper School in June. We’d love for the new parents to jump in this school year as we start to work towards our goals for the next school year. We meet monthly and our next meeting is January 18th virtually at 5:30. Please email me if you are interested! To learn more, click this presentation.

Winter break
Winter break runs from December 24-January 3. Students return to school on Wednesday, January 4th

There will not be a weekly update next weekend given the holiday. On behalf of the staff and administration at Tilton School, we want to wish you all a wonderful holiday season and hope that you are able to spend it with friends and family. Thank you for your continued support of our schools. Enjoy the break!
