Weekly Update 6/5

Good afternoon families! We have made it to June! Hard to believe the end of the year is just a few weeks away!

iReady/End of Year testing
Students are working hard to finish up their iReady testing. We’ve seen some amazing growth this year! Keep up the hard work as we finish up. Students are also completing reading benchmark assessments in the next few weeks.

PTO Update
We are excited to have one last Dining for a Cause night! G’s Southern Texas Flare has us confirmed for Tuesday June 20th from 4:00-9:00. We are working on a flyer to present when you go. We are also looking to assemble some raffle baskets that diners can purchase tickets for. Raffle basket items can be for both kids and for adults. Think of themes: Movie Night, Game night, BBQ fun, Date night, etc!

We always welcome more parents to join PTO. We are having an end of year meeting on Thursday, June 15th @ 6:00. It will be held virtually. We will work to set a clear calendar for meeting dates for the 2023-2024 school year.

Book Fair
After a few years’ hiatus, the book fair is back! Classes will have a schedule to go down to see the book fair and make purchases.

We will have an opportunity for families to come after school to purchase if they need to on June 7th from 4:00-5:30. There was a form sent home to RSVP. It is just an opportunity to purchase books, there are no planned activities.

Spirit Week
With the end of the school year comes some fun events to recognize and celebrate all the hard work we have been doing. What better way to celebrate than with a Spirit Week! See the dates and themes below:

Monday June 5th: Beach Day
Tuesday, June 6th: Tie dye
Wednesday, June 7th: Mismatch Day
Thursday, June 8th: Class color day (K=Red; Gr.1=Purple; Gr. 2=Blue; Gr. 3=Green)
Friday, June 9th: Sports Day

Warmer Weather Days
This time of year is always a rollercoaster of temperatures. Just look at the difference between Friday and Saturday! A few reminders:

Please make sure on hot days, students bring a water bottle that they can refill. We only have bottle filling stations and we do have some cups for students who do not have a bottle. As you can imagine, this means many trips out of the room and spills as cups can only hold so much.
We ask that students refrain from wearing clothing that exposes their belly. This is detailed in the student handbook.
If your child has PE or playscape for recess on a given day, please send them with sneakers to change into as flip flops are not safe for climbing and running

Upcoming Dates:

6/5-6/9: Spirit Week Tilton
6/9: Field Day Tilton
6/13: K has Zoo Creatures visiting
6/15: Gr. 3 Field Trip to Spencer Pierce Little Farm
6/16: Kindergarten End of Year celebration @ 9:45
6/19: No School-Juneteenth Holiday
6/23: Last day of School-Early Release 11:35

Though today is cooler and a bit overcast, I hope you are all out and about enjoying the day! I cannot wait to see my Tigers tomorrow!
