Weekly Update 1/8

Good afternoon families! I hope you are staying safe and warm with today’s weather.

ACCESS Testing
This week our Multi Lingual Learners will be starting their annual ACCESS testing. Students are tested in each of the 4 domains-speaking, reading, writing, and listening. We held a pep rally and cheer walk for them on Friday afternoon to show them how much our school community believes in them and encourages them to do their best!

Car drop off and Pick up
A reminder that no one should be parking in the parking lot and walking students across the street. We try to keep the traffic flow for drop off to the sidewalk at the front of the school. Please do not clog the streets by pulling further down Grove and letting students out or having students hop out of the car before you get to school staff who will let them out. If you find yourself on the opposite side of Grove St. please pull as far forward to the crosswalk to ensure safety for all. Always use the crosswalk to walk across the street. These procedures were designed to ensure a safe flow of traffic on a busy street. Please adhere to our procedures and all traffic laws.

Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

PTO Fundraiser
We still have a supply of chocolate covered pretzels, fortune cookies, and lollipops. If you would like to order some, have your child stop by the main office for an order form.

Chromebooks
Please make sure your child has his/her chromebook every day and that it is charged. We do not have many loaner devices or extra chargers to have students charge during the day. If your child’s computer is not charging or working properly or your device is lost, have them see Mrs. Ackerman who can have it serviced or put a ticket in to have it replaced. At this time, the deadline has passed to sign up for device insurance.

Changes in email/phone numbers
If you change your phone numbers or email addresses please be sure to update the information with the main office. We send weekly communication through email and we often send reminders through the Remind App. We encourage all families to ensure you download the app and opt in for text/email notifications.

Checking in at the office
Please make sure if you need to drop something off or see the school nurse that you first check in at the main office. You will sign in and be given a visitor badge to wear while you are in the building. Families should not be going up or down stairs or walking through the hallways, unless you are here for an event in a different location. On those occasions, you will sign in and out on a specific sign in sheet and be directed to that location.
