Good afternoon families!
Arrival and Dismissal
We are having several near misses at arrival and dismissal when cars are pulling out into traffic or with people crossing the street as cars are pulling out.. It is imperative that you adhere to them for the safety of all. We have been working with the Haverhill Police Department to provide feedback on and support for these procedures. You MUST be using the crosswalk especially during the timeframe from 8:45-9:00. We are working with the city to discuss placement of our crosswalk to see where it makes the most sense to have it without interrupting the flow of traffic.
-DO NOT CUT THE LINE. We appreciate everyone who is in line patiently waiting and following our guidelines and it is not fair to cut the line. Be respectful of others.
-Please do not go around cars still in the line letting students out.
-Please do not park further down Grove St. to avoid the line and cross as it then clogs traffic of cars pulling out of the line, needing to stop short to allow people to cross.
-Please check before pulling out of the car line for oncoming traffic
-NEVER pull a u-turn in the middle of the street or use the parking lot entrance to change direction.
-IF for some reason you find yourself traveling down Grove St. towards Broadway and need to drop off, you MUST pull up to the cross walk and cross there.
When people adhere to our guidelines, it moves very smoothly and quickly. We understand everyone is in a rush in the morning. But we cannot compromise student and staff safety. Staff will give reminders when we see unsafe things, please keep language respectful.
Anyone found in violation of traffic procedures will be referred to the Haverhill Police Department.
Spirit Wear
This week we will be re-opening our online store for some new gear. Once we receive the link, we will share it out via email and our website.
PTO Fundraiser
The PTO has found an amazing vendor for blankets! Order forms are coming home. Please note that due to the custom nature of the product turnaround time is 2-3 months.
iReady Testing
This week we continue our Winter Benchmark assessments. Students will need to bring their fully charged chromebooks in order to complete testing. We are excited to see the growth our students have made since the start of the school year. They have been working so hard!
Spirit Week
We will have a Spirit week February 12-16th. See the themes below:
Monday: Twin Day
Tuesday: PJ Day
Wednesday: Red/White/Pink Day
Thursday: Mismatch Day
Friday: Sports Day
Attendance
If your child is absent please call the school as soon as possible to report the absence. This should be done in addition to notifying the teacher via the REMIND app. If your child has been out ill and seen by a health care provider, please send a note to the school- these absences will be excused. Please make sure that the school has all updated phone numbers. We are working to continue our focus on reducing chronic absenteeism which is not only a district wide focus, but a state wide focus as well
Chromebooks
Please make sure your child has his/her chromebook every day and that it is charged. Soon we will have no longer have devices to loan out for the day. If your child’s computer is not charging or working properly or your device is lost, have them see Mrs. Ackerman or Mr. Weisberg who can have it serviced or put a ticket in to have it replaced. At this time, the deadline has passed to sign up for device insurance.
