Announcement of Tilton Elementary Principal

Good afternoon, Tilton Tigers!

The Haverhill school community is excited to welcome Terry Conant as the new principal of Tilton School. Following a comprehensive search several qualified candidates emerged. However, Terry Conant stood out to both staff and families on the interview team, making him the top choice for the position.

With 24 years of K-12 experience, including 13 years in school leadership, Terry brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Plymouth State College, a Master’s Degree in Teaching with Internet Technologies from Cambridge College, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Educational Leadership from Salem State College.

His teaching began with Grade 6 Science at Beverly’s Memorial and Briscoe Middle Schools. Transitioning to an Instructional Technologist role, Terry taught digital literacy in his final year in the classroom. In 2011, he was appointed Assistant Principal of Briscoe Middle School, where he played a crucial role in integrating middle school and Grade 5 staff into a new 5-8 school structure.

By 2020, Terry advanced to Principal of Pentucket Regional Middle School, where he introduced innovative programs such as financial literacy and robotics, facilitated book studies on discipline and grading, and implemented Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and new grading policies. Most recently, Terry served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for grades 7-12, leading the creation of common assessments, data meetings, and professional development.

Terry resides in Beverly with his wife Heather, their son Daniel (18), and their daughter Lauren (13). In his free time, he enjoys watching his children play sports, playing with his pets, and collecting sports cards.

Terry is honored to join the Haverhill Public Schools and the Tilton community. He looks forward to meeting students, families, and staff in the upcoming weeks and is eager to contribute to the school’s success!

Happy August,

Dr. Marotta
